We’ve heard tell of the incredible success Harmonix has seen with their weekly downloadable tracks for Rock Band. Often, their sales numbers are matched up against those of Guitar Hero III, where tracks are more seldom, but also sell like diamond-encrusted hotcakes.

Microsoft Zune MP3 players landing in Canada June 13th, possibly discontinuing 30GB model?

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

As Bill Gates promised back in January, the Zune is landing in Canada! Officially landing on Friday the 13th (of June), the 80GB version will be CA$249, the 4GB CA$139, and 8GB CA$189. Microsoft hasn’t mentioned the original 30GB Zune, which still remains on sale in the US, so my guess is as they’re not rolling out the model in new territories, they’ll probably soon discontinue it in the States as well.

Purchase Microsoft Points With Your Phone… In Japan

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/05…o-to-suppo.html

What if filling up on Microsoft Points was as easy as picking up your phone and having the cost added to your phone bill? That’s how it is for NTT DoCoMo users in Japan, and hopefully, that’s just a starting point.

If Microsoft is working with other carriers to make this available around the world, great. If not, they probably should. A vast majority of Xbox Live Marketplace and Zune Marketplace users probably have a mobile device of some sort - some have their reasons against directly linking their Windows Live ID and credit card together, while others don’t always want to make the trek to their local store to pick up one of the many Microsoft Points cards on offer, so this third option makes a lot of sense.
